2013년7월22일 UAE가 프랑스에 정찰위성 2기를 대략 1조원가격에 주문

유럽항공우주방위산업(EADS) 산하 아스트리움과 프랑스와 이탈리아 합작 업체 탈레스알레니아는 2018년까지 고해상도 광학정찰 위성인 '팰컨 아이' 2기를 제작.

해상도는 1M이하로 예상, 위성과 위성발사, 지상관제,UAE 20명의 훈련도 계약에

포함

그런데 이 위성에 미국에서 만든 의문의 콤포넌트가 있는데 이게 백도어 역활을 한다

그걸 UAE가 알고 그 콤포넌트를 빼라고 프랑스에 주문했다고 합니다.

그렇지 않으면 계약을 파기할수있다고 경고 했다

A high-level UAE source said the two high-resolution Pleiades-type Falcon Eye military observation satellites contained two specific US-supplied components that provide a back door to the highly secure data transmitted to the ground station.

미국은 그렇게 많은 정찰위성,정찰기 등등 많기도 하는데....별짓다하는구나...

아니..근데 프랑스에서 만드는건데 미국에서 그런걸 넣도록 해준다는건가?

he sale of two intelligence satellites by France to the UAE for nearly $1bln could go bust after the satellites were found to contain US technology designed to intercept data transmitted to the ground station.
A top UAE defence source said that the satellites contain specific US-made components designed to intercept the satellites' communication with their accompanying ground station.
 An unnamed UAE defence source said that it is not clear if the US equipment can be taken off the French satellites, so the incident has resulted in an increase of talks with Moscow, which, along with Beijing, has also been a frequent defence technology supplier to the Emirates.
The system, consisting of satellites and a ground station, will require 20 engineers to operate. According to the contract signed in July 2013, delivery of the satellites and the ground station was to be made in 2018.
Eleven international bidders competed for over a decade to ship their technologies to the UAE, which announced in 2012 that they had chosen the French and US companies.
According to the source, the French won due to the filters that Americans imposed on the use of the equipment – a policy called 'shutter control'. The US government restricts the sale of commercial high resolution satellite images from spacecraft it licences if they are considered a threat to its national security.
A French defence specialist finds it surprising that France has US spy technology on board its equipment, especially when the use of this surveillance system is considered to be of critical importance to France's national security.
According to Defensenews.com, some commentators see the UAE's threats to call off the deal as a way to get a better bargain from the French because the satellites would be part of a big package deal. The unnamed defence expert also finds it possible that the UAE may wish to drive down the price for other equipment, such as the Dessault Aviation Rafale fighter jet.
