휴렛-팩커드(Hewlett-Packard)사는 퍼스널컴퓨터, 태블릿, 스마트폰의 생산을 중단하고, 소프트웨어에 집중할 것임을 확인했다.
휴렛-팻커드는 최근 영국의 소프트에어회사 오토노미(Autonomy)사를 약 10억달러에 살 것에 합의했고, 퍼스널컴퓨터, 태블릿, 스마트폰 생산 부문의 매각을 고려하고 있다고 발표했다. 불과 1년전 Palm Pre를 약 1억2천만달러에 인수했던 것을 상기할 때. 이러한 결정은 매우 놀라운 것이다.
소프트웨어에의 집중이라는 CEO Leo Apotheker의 구조조정계획은 지난 10년간 전통적인 하드웨어 사업부문을 떨쳐 낸 IBM을 벤치마킹한 것이다.
